As early as the 18th century, local glassworks specialized not only in the production of functional and decorative glass but also in the manufacture of glass beads and jewelry. Josef Riedel also played a key role in the development of jewelry-making in the region in the 19th century. Thanks to the innovations and creativity of the glassmakers of the Crystal Valley, glass beads and jewelry became sought-after products on international markets. In 1920, the establishment of a glass school in Železný Brod contributed to the further development of glass crafts, including hand-pressing and jewelry-making.
To this day, traditional glassmaking, glass blowing, cutting and pressing can still be seen in the Crystal Valley. The rich history and tradition of the region attracts not only glass lovers but also tourists from all over the world.
