One of the most important parts of Czech history is the period of governance of Charles IV, the Bohemian king and the emperor of The Holy Roman Empire. Many important art pieces, structures, and institutions representing culture, architecture, art, and education were created during this time. Visitors to Prague are familiar with Charles Bridge, students study at Charles University and tourists admire the gothic castle Karlštejn. This castle is the place where the Imperial Crown of The Holy Roman Empire is deposited along with a replica of the Crown of Saint Wenceslas. Charles IV was crowned in Rome in 1355.
